Experience the Magic of

A Black Forest Christmas

There are so many reasons to attend A Black Forest Christmas. We have missed the annual tree-lighting ceremony along with the caroling and the visit from Santa Claus. We love how the Black Forest Community comes together to celebrate the Christmas season, and we are so excited to be celebrating together again in person this year.

Here are a few things we have planned for A Black Forest Christmas:

Visit with Santa Claus

Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus are excited to be part of A Black Forest Christmas! Visit with Santa Claus and make sure to let him know that you have been good all year.  If you have not yet sent your letters to Santa, there will be a special area where children can write their letters to give to Santa.

Tree Lighting Ceremony

The Black Forest Community has held a tree lighting ceremony for many years. We missed the event when it could not take place due to COVID-19, and we are excited to light up the Black Forest again. This will be a very special tree lighting that you will not want to miss.

Christmas Caroling

Christmas caroling during the tree lighting is another tradition that we are pleased to bring back. Out of consideration for COVID-19, we will not be singing inside of the Community Center. We hope to have beautiful weather so we can enjoy caroling outdoors.

Live Music

Thank you to The Bare Bones Trombone Choir for coming out and playing live Christmas music. This group exists to promote the lifelong love of the trombone through performances, interactions with children, open rehearsals, and we are so excited for them to host a Black Forest Trombone Christmas.

Holiday Decorations

Enjoy the beautiful decorations around the Log School Park Pavilion and the Community Center. Each Christmas Swag in the Pavilion was handmade from boughs cut from Black Forest trees.

Christmas Cookies

It’s not a hometown holiday celebration without an assortment of homemade Christmas Cookies. We will be having Christmas Cookies in the Community Center. Members of the Black Forest Community are encouraged to bring Christmas Cookies to share. To make things a bit more fun, we are hosting the first-ever Great Black Forest Christmas Cookie Contest with prizes awarded for the best overall Christmas Cookie and the Most Festive Christmas Cookie.

Hot Drinks and Food

The Christmas celebration begins outdoors (weather permitting), so hot drinks will be well-deserved. We are pleased to be serving hot chocolate, hot cider, and pizza inside the Black Forest Community Center on a donation-only basis during A Black Forest Christmas. Many thanks to the R&R Coffeehouse & Cafe and Louie’s Pizza for their generous donations and support of this event.

Kids Crafts

A Black Forest Christmas is a family-friendly event. Kids are encouraged to come visit Santa and make a fun craft while everyone is visiting and enjoying hot drinks and Christmas cookies. Crafts are available to enjoy for free and will be led by an event volunteer.

Storytime with Santa

We cannot yet sing Christmas carols or have a rousing version of the 12 Days of Christmas inside the Community Center, so we decided to start a new tradition of Storytime with Santa. Come join Santa for the reading of ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas and several other beloved Christmas tales.
