Oktoberfest & Trunk-or-Treat
Saturday, October 31st
4:00pm - 6:00pm
The Black Forest Community Center is hosting an Oktoberfest celebration and community Trunk-or-Treat on Saturday, October 31st from 4:00pm – 6:00pm. The entire Black Forest community is invited to celebrate outdoors with live German music and great food, as well as costumes and candy.
We are keeping the tradition of celebrating Oktoberfest alive in the Black Forest!
Join us at the Black Forest Community Center on Saturday, October 31st from 4pm – 6pm during the all outdoors Oktoberfest celebration for brats, drinks, live music, and fun! Get a brat, chips, and drink for only $6! The Oktoberfest celebration is taking place in the parking lot of the Community Center and the Log School Park.
Of course, due to COVID-19 restrictions, the event will look slightly different this year. All food will be individually packaged and served by volunteers wearing masks and gloves. Due to insurance restrictions, no alcohol will be served. Masks are required unless seated and eating. Please bring your own chairs.
We are so excited to host the first-ever Trunk-or-Treat in the Black Forest! We look forward to seeing kids and families of our community at this event. Of course, the kids have to show off their Halloween costumes!
The community Trunk-or-Treat is taking place alongside the Oktoberfest on Saturday, October 31st from 4pm – 6pm in the Black Forest Community Center’s Backyard (where the Backyard Market was located this summer).
This is a community Trunk-or-Treat, so it is not a sponsored event. If you can host a vehicle that would be great! A fancy decorated car is not required, just sign up to be there and hand out candy. The kids in our community will be grateful.
Trunk-or-Treat & COVID-19 Safety
Due to COVID-19, the event will be outdoors and socially distanced with one-way foot traffic through the Backyard area. All candy will be individually packaged pieces and distributed using gloves.
Face coverings are required for anyone age 5 and over. Costume masks are not a substitute for masks that protect against COVID-19 spread. Masks that protect against COVID-19, should be made from two or more breathable fabric layers that cover the nose and mouth, with no gaps around the face. If wearing a costume mask over a cloth mask makes it hard to breathe, consider a Halloween-themed cloth mask as part of the costume instead.
Please do not participate in the Trunk-or-Treat if you are sick, especially with COVID-19 symptoms, or if you have been exposed to someone with COVD-19 and are currently in the quarantine period.
Want to support the Trunk-or-Treat?
There are several ways to contribute to the community Trunk-or-Treat:
- Donate Candy – Bags of candy can be dropped off to the Community Center on Mondays and Thursdays from 1:00pm – 2:00pm or on Wednesdays and Fridays from 10:00am – 11:00am. If these times are not convenient, please send an email to WeAreBlackForestCO@gmail.com to arrange a time that is convenient for you.
- Donate Money – You can donate money to be used to purchase additional candy for the Trunk-or-Treat. Checks can be dropped off at the Community Center at the same times listed above. They can also be mailed to the Black Forest Community Center at 12530 Black Forest Road, Colorado Springs, 80908. Please note Trunk-or-Treat on your check.
- Have Your Business or Organization Host a Vehicle in the Trunk-or-Treat – If you are part of a business or organization that would like some additional exposure in the community, consider decorating a vehicle and handing out business cards alongside the candy. Please remember that individually packaged candy pieces are required along with gloves and masks for distributing the candy.
- Have Your Family Host a Vehicle in the Trunk-or-Treat – Most of us in the Forest don’t get many trick-or-treaters, even when not in the midst of a global pandemic. This is a great opportunity to decorate a vehicle as a family, hand out candy, and see kids in their costumes – all while giving back to your community. If you want to host a vehicle, but need some help supplying candy, we will have donated candy available to supplement. Please remember that individually packaged candy pieces are required along with gloves and masks for distributing the candy.
